INTERNATIONAL WATERCOLOR FESTIVAL CUM PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP, NEPAL 2016

International Watercolor Society of Nepal together with the Cultural Corporation of Nepal is organizing a fine art exhibition and a Plein Air workshop event this November. The event entitled “Watercolor Festival cum Plein Air Workshop – 2016 in Nepal” will be held in two places of Nepal i.e. Kathmandu and Ghandruk Village.

The selected artworks painted in watercolor medium by the artists from the different parts of the world will be exhibited in Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal, Kathmandu. And the “Plein Air Workshop” another attraction of the event to feel and experience the nature will be held in Ghandruk Village, one of the beautiful natural place of Western Nepal.

Dear artists,

We are pleased to announce that the International Watercolor Society of Nepal (IWS Nepal), in
association with the Cultural Corporation of Nepal, is organizing an historic mega event entitled,
Watercolor Festival cum Plein Air Workshop – 2016 in Nepal. This opportunity will both give you
the privilege of showcasing your works in the exhibition and witnessing the collective art works of
watercolour masters from all over the world! This together with enjoying an amazing plein air
workshop in the Himalayas accompanied by live folk music played by a group of musicians.
Moreover, we aim to promote Nepali watercolour art, culture and tourism in the international
arena through the medium of watercolor.

EXHIBITION + PLEIN AIR DATE & VENUE:
Date:  3rd-10th November 2016
Venue 1:  Exhibition Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal,Kathmandu,Nepal
Venue 2:  Plein Air, “Ghandruk Village”, Western Nepal, Situated at the lap of Himalaya, Almost
230 KM west from Kathmandu by bus and 10 KM Trekking

ELIGIBILITY
The event is open to all artists working in water media executed on paper. No collage,
pastels, class work, digital images, any form of print or reproductions. Artist’s original work
only. No copies or likenesses of another artist’s work including published source or
reference not attributable to the artist.

CONDITIONS FOR ENTRIES
Theme: Unrestricted
Medium: Any traditional watercolor work done on paper, must be original and completed
within last 2 years
Size: Only half imperial size (15×22 inches)

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION
A.For IWS Country Heads:
1.The country heads will select maximum 12 artworks of their respective communities.
2.The images of the painting should be sent together by the country head according to the
following format :
Last name_First name_Title_Size_Country.jpg
3.The size of image should be between 3MB – 5MB, no less than 8 inches in longer dimension.
4.Send the images to the following Email:

B. For individual (who are not associated with International Watercolor Society. However we
encourage you to contact IWS country head of the respective country )
1.Please send your painting images according to the following format:
Last name_First Name _Title Size_Country
2.The size of the image should be between 3 -5 MB , no less than 8 inches in longer dimension.

PARTICIPATION FEES
There is no requirement of the fee in the preliminary stage (Submission of the painting image) but
artist must pay the fee when they cross the first stage ( when art work accepted).
1.For International artists associated with IWS
Accepted artists participating in the event is bound to an exhibition fee of 80 US Dollars which
must be deposited by their country heads, and send via bank transfer. Participation fee will be
waived for country heads on the condition that they have selected minimum of 8 artists.
2.For individual International artists:
Accepted individual international artists must pay fee of 80 USD by themselves
3. For local ( Nepalese Artists): Nrs, 4,000 fee wich must be transferred through local bank.
*Bank details will be provided after the selection process is over.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the top 3 artists with certificate and plaque along with free
accommodation and fooding for full 8 days: 3 – 10 November.

CATALOGUE, CERTIFICATES and FRAME
There will be publication of international standard catalogue consisting of all selected artist’s
painting images and their short bio which will be handed over to the artists free of cost along with
a certificate of appreciation.The organizer will manage the frames for the paintings.

SUBMISSION OF THE PAINTING’S IMAGE DEADLINE
30 July 2016

RESULT ANNOUNCEMENT
Accepted artists result will be announced through emails by the end of 15th August 2016.

NUMBER OF PAINTINGS
All together 200 artworks (150 from international artists and 50 from local artists) will be
selected. All art works displayed will be on sale .The organizer will take 30% as a commission.

DEADLINE OF THE ORIGINAL PAINTING ARRIVAL
The selected original paintings must be arrived before 3rd October.

FOODING & ACCOMMODATION
Free accommodations of country head will be provided for full 8 days 3rd-10th November on the
condition of submitting 8 artworks from related countries .

ART TOUR PACKAGE
Artists that are interested to join our event will be offered a discounted fixed travel package rates
which covers accommodation, fooding (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) and internal travel cost for 9
nights and 10 days ( 2nd- 11th November).
