Program of international and local artist residencies

With a clear desire to support creators and incentive to artistic production, MAC develops International Artistic Residencies Program (for non-resident artists of any nationality in Galicia) and local (for artists living in Galicia), who come to complement and extend the program Scholarships for artistic Creation Abroad, in operation since 1991. These programs, together, represent a strong commitment to the museum for research, innovation and value of creative processes within the artistic field.

LOCAL RESIDENCES

The Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa (MAC) calls within the framework established by the Plan of Promotion and Cultural Cooperation, a selection process to cover a total of two residences for the development of artistic research projects by resident artists in Galicia.
This program is intended to encourage research and artistic production; contribute to the promotion of local artists and facilitate the interaction of local artists with other artists and art professionals and culture.

EXECUTION TIME:

Each of the three rooms in residence will last for two months between April 4 and May 31, 2016. The stay in the museum will be uninterrupted, if a beneficiary has to leave the residence for a period of time should be for good cause.

BENEFICIARIES:

They may be beneficiaries of these residences all those artists (any discipline) and cultural professionals (managers, curators, mediators, etc.) living in Galicia and under 45 who wish to develop an artistic research project at the headquarters of MAC in A Coruña.

Applicants must have training and / or accredited career in the field of arts and culture.

A maximum of one application per account holder and call may be submitted. Individual requests will be accepted.

Applicants must not have obtained the status of beneficiaries of this aid in more than one round of the program.

The only limitations to these conditions are imposed by the law.

FILING AND NOTIFICATION OF AWARDS:

Applications may be submitted until 14.00 (GMT + 1) on 15 February 2016. Once the deadline for submitting applications no applications will be accepted.
The filing will be made through this online application form.
As of March 1, 2016 will be communicated in writing to each of the applicants of the outcome of the selection.
Should the data or incomplete documentation required a cure period of three days is established from the date of notification to the applicant.
The final list of beneficiaries will be published on the website of the MAC and they will be contacted directly by the program coordinator to formalize the grant by signing a document granting the aid.

SELECTION PROCESS AND VALUATION:

The grant of this aid be made in a competitive basis, according to the principles of objectivity, transparency, equality and non-discrimination.

This notice will be resolved by an Evaluation Committee chaired by the Director of MAC and including professionals linked to the Museum arts sector, as well as artists who have enjoyed a residency at previous editions.

The selection of the Evaluation Committee is final and it shall resolve any situation not contemplated in these rules. The Assessment Committee may declare the call.

They are declared beneficiaries of aid applicants who obtained the highest score based on the following evaluation criteria: originality and / or innovative art project (50%), the adequacy of project resources and context in which it will take place ( 30%) and the curriculum or trajectory of the applicant (20%).

MANNING AND JUSTIFICATION:

The prize money in each of the residences will be 3000 Euros subject to withholding tax force- -Number fees up to 400 euros in aid to production and up to 200 euros in travel expenses for non-resident artists in A Coruña fertilizers -both justification of expenses-made.In this financial support the assignment of a workspace equipped and lunches on weekdays adds.

The payment of financial assistance shall take place in such a way: the first month 1500 euros, 1500 euros the second and 400 euros after the delivery of memory and cost justification. Compensation for travel expenses will be held at the end of the residence.

Payments will be made upon presentation of invoice and using applicable withholding taxes, such monthly remuneration will be made by transfer to the bank account of each of the beneficiaries.

The justification of the aid will be held in the last week of stay in residence by submitting a report documenting the project developed.The purpose of it is to prove compliance with the purpose for which the aid was granted and the conditions, if any, on the occasion of the award and its presentation will be sine qua non to perceive the last payment of aid economic associated with the program.

OBLIGATIONS OF BENEFICIARIES:

Beneficiaries undertake to develop the project on schedule in the timetable of work submitted in their respective applications and deliver a report at the end of your stay.

Beneficiaries undertake to make good use of the facilities and allocate the workshops exclusively assigned to them as spaces for artistic production. They are, therefore, excluded their use as stores, warehouses, homes, etc.

In case you needed to make any intervention in the workspace (paint, drill or any other modification) should apply to the program coordinator specific permission for this purpose, assuming the recipient’s responsibility to restore the space to return to their initial state once the residence. Also, it is forbidden to carry out work with toxic and / or industrial machinery that generates noise above permitted or pose a danger to the space and its users.

The beneficiaries mentioned in the dissemination and exhibition of pieces produced during his residency that they have been made under the program include the following legend: “project with the support of the Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa (MAC)”.

The beneficiaries authorize his name is mentioned, as well as the graphic reproduction of his work for any broadcast or publication that the MAC sees fit to do about the residency program and / or activity.

The beneficiaries must comply with the rules of the MAC, adapting to your schedule (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 21:30, Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:30 and Sunday 11 : 00 to 14:00) and work dynamics, while maintaining a civic behavior and respect the facilities and common areas of the museum.
